2.0 PROJECT 1

2.1 Process Work

After forming a group of 6, we started to compile possible ideas for the proposal in a Canva deck and focused on the solutions for problems faced by different target audience.

Mr. Fitri shortlisted the final 3 ideas to:
  • Braille Tactile Wayfinding System
  • Virtual Public Transportation Card
  • Shaded Sitting Areas in Titiwangsa Park
We worked in pairs for each proposal, Xi Tien and I paired up to work on the Braille Tactile Wayfinding System. I was in charge of doing research and documentation, while she was in charge of designing and drawing the braille directory boards and handrail braille codes.

We focused on the MRT Kajang Line as it is the busiest MRT line, and I mainly researched on where the directory boards should be located within the station and the user-friendliness of the design.

3.0 PROJECT 2

3.1 Field Study

After a discussion with the team, we decided to conduct a field study for Proposal 3 - Shaded Seating Areas in Titiwangsa Park. We chose to visit the park in the afternoon as it was the hottest time of the day, allowing us to fully experience what the park goers feel in dire weather conditions.

The park was quite big and we mainly focused on the west lake area where most of the seating areas were for people to relax and enjoy the view. As we stroll in the park, we took pictures and videos at specific areas we think can be improved or replaced. Besides that, we also interviewed some park goers along the way. From the interviews, we identified that the main problem is the hot weather and not enough seating areas that are shaded.

3.2 Data Collection

Based on our field study, we delegated our parts for Project 2. I was in charge with documenting the observations we have from the field study, such as the issues identified and how it affects the park goers. Below is the deck for Project 2:

4.0 FINAL PROJECT

4.1 Process Work

For the final project, Mr. Fitri said that we could execute our idea with an infographic poster. I was in charge of the infographic poster's copywriting as well as researching Malaysian cultural patterns (Indian) as inspiration for the canopy designs, that will be designed by Yee Leng and Jia Xuan.

5.0 FEEDBACK

Week 6:
The sketch is okay, would recommend to add cultural elements to the canopy designs.

Week 5:
Redraw the sketches to show the before & after of the shade's retraction. Add justification to the features of the sketches.

Week 4:
There were no issues with the proposal deck, and Mr. Fitri suggested us to conduct field study for either Proposal 1 or Proposal 3.

Week 3:
For the interpreting theme section, we had to revise from covering "urban mobility" to "designing urban futures" instead.

Week 2:
Mr. Fitri shortlisted the final 3 ideas and let us proceed with the proposal.

6.0 REFLECTION

Throughout these 7 weeks, my communication skills and teamwork have improved through working together with my teammates as a group. Moreover, I also got to learn more about how important sustainability and mobility is to cities. I was able to observe how we can improve Titiwangsa Park and develop plans to provide more comfort for park goers under extreme heat or heavy rain.
